LIBRARIES in Calderdale will close for one day as new technology is installed.

Calderdale Council is launching a new electronic database which will log what library users like and make recommendations for books, DVDs and music.

It’s hoped the interactive library management system will open up a new chapter for libraries for future generations.

Clr Pauline Nash, Cabinet member for Communities, said: “We are delighted to be investing in Calderdale’s libraries and this new system will bring many new services and will make libraries more efficient.”

On Monday, February 4, Brighouse and Stainland libraries will close for the day while the technology is installed.

Greetland and Rastrick libraries will close for the day on Tuesday, February 5, and Elland will be closed on Friday, February 8.

Hipperholme will be closed on Tuesday, February 12 and Bailiff Bridge, Ripponden and Southowram on Thursday, February 14.

The new system will go live in March.
