DIAMOND couple Christopher and Marie Green have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

The keen dancers from Highburton celebrated with a knees-up at their regular sequence dancing club in Wakefield.

They then had a special dinner with their children Karen, 54, Warren, 39, grandchildren Ryan, 29, and Emma, 25, and great grandchildren Maisie, 3 and Finlay, 2.

Marie, 81, told the Examiner she met Christopher at her sister’s party in Rawthorpe when she was 17.

The couple married in 1949 at St Joseph’s Parish Church in Moldgreen.

Marie said: “I won’t say we’ve never had an argument but we get on very well.

“Having such a big family is lovely – you can’t beat it.”

Christopher, 83, originally from Thornton Lodge, worked as a plumber.

The couple both have season tickets for Huddersfield Town and love sequence dancing which keeps them fit and healthy.
