Green-fingered members of a care centre have dug deep to help a local park bloom.

Members of Highfields Day Care Centre spent the day working in Beaumont Park and did everything from sweeping leaves to pruning and planting.

Graham Hodgson, gardener at Highfields, said: “They go in and help the park keeper John Mason and they love it.

“They were cleared leaves, laying bark, pruning and general tidying up the park.

“John has praised their help but it’s something they enjoy doing.”

The Highfields centre is a facility for adults with disabilities and has its own garden.

Graham added: “We have different groups working on it daily and we grow things to sell and the money is re-invested back.

“Gardening is something different for our members and it gets them outside.

“We’re thankful for John Mason at Beaumont Park for letting us go along.”
