People are urged to be on the lookout for Siberian husky Kimani, taken from a garage on Laund Road in Salendine Nook on Wednesday night - on her first birthday.
She is worth £650 and her owner, 50-year-old builder Trevor Bates, said: "She is very friendly and would have gone with the thieves.
"People stop to look at her she is so eye-catching. Many people want to take a photo of her and say she looks just like a wolf.
"Her markings are perfect. She has grey/ blue eyes and comes from a litter which had a Crufts winner in the family. She's a stunning dog."
Anyone with information about the theft or who knows where Kimani is should contact police.
