AN END to the long-running bus lay-by saga in Hipperholme is still being held up because further work needs to take place.
A dispute over the lay-by at Halifax Road in Hipperholme has rumbled on for ten years.
This has prevented its completion until Calderdale Council approved the release of £33,000 needed to finish the bus stop-off on the A58.
The council had been in dispute with the private developer of the site next to the position of the lay-by.
But work on completing the bus lay-by has come to a halt – because Yorkshire Water has a 14-week waiting list for works.
The water company needs to lower pipes underneath the site before work on the bus stop can continue.
Hipperholme Clr Colin Raistrick said: “We are on a 14 week waiting list for Yorkshire Water to get the work done, then it should be completed.
“The cables or pipes need to be sunk 6ft lower – I’d do it myself if I could just so it was finally done”.
