RESIDENTS have objected to the design of almost 150 proposed homes.

Planners will decide tomorrow whether to give the green light to the blueprint for the 147 houses off Brighouse Road in Hipperholme.

Persimmon Homes won outline planning permission for the development near the Crosslee factory site in June 2010.

Calderdale Council’s planning committee has been asked to approve the details of the development at its monthly meeting at Halifax Town Hall tomorrow.

Persimmon wants to build five five-bedroom houses; 47 four-bedroom; 20 three-bedroom detached; 60 three-bedroom semi-detached and terraced and 15 two-bedroom homes.

The housing would range from 7.5 metres high to 9.4 metres.

The developer has agreed to contribute £100,000 towards Calderdale’s schools and £20,000 for bus stops to serve the site.

Ten residents have written to Calderdale objecting to the proposal.

Their complaints include:

The development would lead to increased traffic.

The housing would damage the view of the area.

The village lacks school places to cope with the increased demand after the development is finished.

Concerns about the use of brick and the fact that some of the homes will be three storeys high.

Council officers have backed the proposal.
