LOCAL history buffs will have a chance to share their passion with fellow enthusiasts at a new organisation.

The local studies department of Huddersfield Library is launching a LunchtimeClub on November 17.

The idea stemmed from a town centre walk that took place in September, when about 25 people took a stroll around the town centre to admire the architecture.

The initial meeting for the club will see members retrace their steps, looking at old maps and photographs of the town.

Pam Riding, senior local studies librarian said: "The club is a chance for an interesting day activity.

"We are hoping for external speakers and further walks."

The club will consist of an informal meeting every two months for people interested in local and family history.

The first meeting will take place in the Committee Room of Huddersfield Library at 1pm.
