Dozens have taken to social media to pay their condolences to crash victim Sami Achour.
Police have confirmed the 17-year-old former Saddleworth School student, from Diggle, was killed on Sunday afternoon in a pile-up on the A635 Greenfield Road out of Holmfirth.
He was a passenger in a VW polo which was one of four vehicles involved in the crash.
The pile-up prompted a massive rescue effort by the emergency services, with a fleet of ambulances, fire engines and police cars racing to the scene.
Two Air Ambulances, from Yorkshire and the North West, were called in to fly two other seriously-injured people to hospital in Leeds. One of them, a teenage girl, remains “seriously ill” in hospital with back injuries.
Tributes to Sami included:
Sophie May Heald: Sami you were like a little brother to me, you practically lived in our house, you were part of the family. I made you feel sufficiently awkward on many occasions like a big sister would but you always seems to laugh & see the funny side. You never said much but like that post you shared you didn’t have to & that was just you, which we appreciated.
