MEA proved that every dog can have its day.

The six-year-old Catalan Sheepdog from Holmfirth walked away with a top prize at Crufts.

Mea, owned by Holmfirth accountant Toni Westcott-Smith, was one of over 25,000 dogs at Birmingham’s NEC for the show.

Crufts is presented by the Kennel Club, which is celebrating 140 years of promoting healthy, happy dogs.

Mea and her owner fought off competition from a number of other dogs to scoop the coveted Best of Breed prize.

And the 28-year-old was left beaming with pride at her and Mea's performance at the world-famous show.

“It is just brilliant to win Best of Breed. I am so proud of Mea she has done so well and she really deserves it,” she said.

“I have been coming to Crufts for the last 15 years and it really is the best dog show in the world. I still get butterflies every year.

“To come here and pick up a prize is such a great feeling and I am a little bit speechless, but very, very happy.”

The Catalan sheepdog is a breed of Catalan Pyrenean dog used as a sheepdog. The dog is bred in Europe, especially in Spain, Finland, Germany, and Sweden.
