ORGANISERS are getting ‘quacking’ as preparations for Holmfirth’s annual duck race get under way.
The 29th fundraising event – organised by Pendragon Round Table – is being held at The Sands on July 1.
More than £10,000 was raised for good causes last year – including the Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust.
This year, Huddersfield Alzheimer's Society will be among those to benefit.
The event kicks-off at 11am with a fun fair, craft stalls and food.
The ducks will be released at 2pm.
Colne Valley MP Jason McCartney will be launching them this year.
He said: “I’m really looking forward to launching this year’s Holmfirth Duck race.
“I joined thousands at last year’s race in the sunshine which raised more than £10,000 for local good causes.
“This annual event is one of the highlights of a packed summer ahead.”
The plastic ducks are raced down the River Holme in a bid to scoop a £1,000 first prize, with £200 and £100 for second and third place.
The last duck owner will be offered a free three-month membership at Fitness First.
