FROG'S legs came hopping to Holmfirth yesterday as a little French style came to town.

Louise Hartley and Michelle Lindsey, who are in their final year at Huddersfield University, served up the delicacy in the town's main square for the locals to taste.

They came up with the idea as part of their practical project for their course in Public Relations with Media and Management Design.

Louise said: "For this project we were assigned to a real business using public relations and were given Harrow's Restaurant to work with. We came up with a range of ideas to try and promote the restaurant and get its name better known in the Holmfirth area.

"Michelle and I, along with the owner, Adam, came up with the idea of going out on the streets food tasting, and with Harrow's being a French and English restaurant, we decided on Frog's Legs."

Chef and Proprietor of Harrow's restaurant and Wine Bar, Adam Harrow, supplied the legs in an attempt to inject a bit of French culture into the local town.

He said: "I imagine that not a lot of people in Holmfirth would think to order frogs legs in a restaurant for the fear they do not like them.

"But now they have had the chance to see what they are like for free."

The girls' trawled the streets from 12-2pm yesterday afternoon trying to coax the locals into tasting France's finest cuisine.

Michelle, originally of South London, added: "During the process of promoting this restaurant we actually went outside and conducted some market research and from this we found that not a lot of the locals were actually coming to the restaurant. So that's why we decided on food tasting, to actually get the locals involved and be able to experience for themselves what Harrow's is like."

You can hear what locals thought of the frog's legs on the Examiner website next week.
