FINANCIAL services have been boosted in Holmfirth after a new branch of the Co-op Bank opened inside a supermarket.
Pupils from Holmfirth Junior and Infant School launched the bank inside the Co-op store in Market Street.
It comes a little over a year after a branch of the Halifax bank shut down.
The in-store bank is the Co-op’s first in Yorkshire and only the fifth in the country.
Alongside the in-store bank, Co-operative bosses also unveiled a major facelift for the shop.
Branch manager, Rob Green, said the move had created four new jobs for the town. He added: “We’re looking to bring the Co-operative Bank into the community to give all customers – new and existing – the chance to enjoy ethical banking.”
