A MAN has appeared in court accused of assault in a fast food restaurant.

Brendan Halford, 38, was before Huddersfield magistrates yesterday.

He is accused of assaulting Benjamin Ives in the Leeds Road branch of McDonald's on October 1.

Magistrates were told that Halford, of River Holme View in Holmfirth, had been due to stand trial for the attack.

He had not attended but been convicted in absence by magistrates.

However following inquiries the case was re-opened and the panel agreed to refix a trial.

Halford will now be tried for the offence on March 23.
