A HOLMFIRTH painter is rolling up his sleeves to help preserve a piece of Yorkshire heritage.

Ashley Jackson – who is known for his passionate depictions of the Yorkshire Moors – will be turning his talents to painting the Bronte Bell Chapel, at Thornton, in Bradford.

Ashley – whose aim has always been to do with the brush what the Brontes did with the pen – is carrying out the work to support the historic chapel’s fundraising.

The site – which is near to the Brontes’ birthplace – is most famous as the place where the literary sisters were baptised.

Patrick Bronte – who was father to Charlotte, Emily and Anne – also preached there from 1815 to 1820.

Ashley will be painting on September 5 between 10.30am to 11.30am.
