HOLMFIRTH is to get another market day.

A new vintage market, selling secondhand goods, will run each Wednesday from September 23.

The move follows Kirklees Council’s investment of almost £75,000 in six months.

The new Vintage Market will open at 10am on Wednesday, September 23, and run until 4.30pm that day and each subsequent Wednesday.

Clr Peter McBride, Cabinet member for Regeneration, said: “This new trading day will be a great boost for the town centre and will be an additional attraction for the many coach parties visiting Holmfirth as well as more local shoppers.

“The market has also resulted in a new partnership with the Kirkwood Hospice charity which has committed its support and will hand-pick vintage goods from donations to sell at the market”.

The popular Thursday market has also benefited from the market improvements which have seen new flooring, new stalls and stall covers, repainting and marketing, plus the opening of a café and children’s play zone.

The Saturday Craft Market has expanded to include fresh food and this market is now also reaping the investment rewards and there is an extensive waiting list of further food retailers and craft retailers.
