Christmas is just around the corner and the season of giving is upon us.

But a small act of kindness from Louie Cooper changed one stranger’s life more than the latest iPhone or tablet ever could.

Selfless Louie, who manages Five Bar & Kitchen in Cross Church Street, Huddersfield , helped a homeless man find a job after buying him a suit.

Louie, 22, said: “This man called Omar walked into the bar asking about a job.

“He was really desperate for anything even though we didn’t have any shifts going.

“I felt a bit sorry for him.

“I told him he’d find it difficult to find a job if he wasn’t dressed smart, so I took him to a charity shop.”

Omar had told Louie everything had “fallen apart” after he was attacked on Bradford Road and his takeaway business had “gone bust’, explaining he had been left without a home.

Former Silcoates pupil Louie took Omar to the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice shop on Cross Church Street.

“I said ‘get anything you want’, so we got him suited up.

“One of the things he bought was a suit.”

Louie also helped the man out with money that was owed to his former landlord.

The next day, Omar returned to Five Bar and waited hours for Louie, explaining he had found a job at a nearby takeaway and had an offer for an interview from a bar in town.

“It was all because he had gone in dressed in a suit,” Louie added.

“He thanked me loads. It wasn’t much to me but I’d really helped him out.

“I was totally shocked but so glad I could help. I only spent about £50 but it’s the best money I’ve ever spent.”

Louie now wants to encourage others to remember the importance of small acts of kindness as the festive season draws upon us .

“I just think it’s important to help others.

“If this can inspire someone else to give a few minutes of their time to others then that’s great.”
