DEVELOPERS hoping to revitalise Brighouse canalside with a mews-style homes plan are looking to appeal against a High Court decision which dismissed the plans.

Younger Homes (Northern) Ltd claims the correct planning procedures were not followed when two competing proposals - theirs and a scheme for new shops, a swimming pool and road bridge - went head to head.

The shops, pool and bridge plan is the one that Calderdale Council favours. Younger Homes owns the old Sugden's flour mill canalside site.

The scheme submitted by John Radcliffe and Sons, Huddersfield and Commercial Development Projects for the new pool and retail units stalled when Younger Homes challenged the process in the courts.

The swimming pool scheme had been given the green light by the council and Secretary of State.
