A NEW library for people with diabetes has been opened.

The 200-book library was opened at Honeyzz Diabetes Support Group in Birkby.

Chairman Denvil Nurse said: “This is not just for diabetics, but also people who care for them and for those who want to increase their knowledge of the condition.”

Kirklees Council donated 50 books to the new library.

Honeyzz, based at St John’s Resource Centre on Birkby Road, works with 100 people who have diabetes.

Mr Nurse said: “We run workshops where people can make jewellery from beads and we also run computing classes, exercise sessions and reading groups.”

Honeyzz Diabetes Support Group was formed in 2002. It works mainly with African-Carribean people but is open to all.
