STUDENTS at Honley High School are set to give a capital performance at Marsden Jazz Festival tomorrow .

The school’s jazz band will perform Alphabet Suite which they composed themselves during workshops with renowned jazz composer and musician Pat Allison.

The title of the piece reflects how students used letters and words to link to the musical notes. There are sections for instruments including trombones, trumpets and clarinets.

Alphabet Suite, which comprises three movements, will be performed for the first time at 1pm tomorrow at the Tunnel End visitor centre at Standedge.

The school was invited to take part in the three-day festival by event co-ordinator Taru SInclair.
