HONLEY Village Community Trust found a top design team to launch its new-look website.

Year 10 students in Mrs Sue Johnston’s IT class at Honley High School took up the challenge to boost the village’s online profile.

The winning design was a group effort by William Appleyard, Lewis Coldwell and Oliver Durrant who netted the £60 prize. The £10 runner-up award went to Alex Slawson.

William said: “It was a true group project. Each of our team specialised in one part of it, and we’ve learned a lot from this experience.”

Groups and individuals had to work to a strict brief, give a demonstration of their completed site and answer questions from the Trust’s judging panel.

Spokesman John Murray said the trust’s previous website had not been updated in recent years and “was looking a bit tired.”
