It's furniture that definitely has the X-Factor!

Now a stylish red sofa made by Honley firm Distinctive Chesterfields for TV talent show The X-Factor is to be auctioned off to the highest bidder for charity.

Viewers have seen X-Factor the judges and contestants – including Gary Barlow, Nicole Scherzinger, Kingsland Road and Abi Alton – relaxing on the sofa, which also bears the signatures of all the performers in the show’s live final.

The sofa, which would normally take a month to construct, was made in just one week by the Long Lane firm’s workshop team – with young upholsterers working around the clock to get the piece ready in time for delivery to the X-Factor contestants’ house some weeks ago.

Now it is adorned on the back with the signatures of X-Factor winner Sam Bailey, Luke Friend, Kingsland Road, and Abi Alton.

The auction is due to go live early next year via eBay’s charity page – with the Make a Wish children’s charity set to get the proceeds.

Writing some weeks before the final, Sam Bailey scrawled “Loving the experience” on the sofa, while Abi wrote “The only thing that seperates (sic) try from triumph is a little ‘UMPH’.”

Gary Barlow shared a few laughs on the sofa with his group Kingsland Road, while Nicole Scherzinger got cosy on the couch with Abi Alton and Sharon Osbourne chatted with contestant Shelley Smith.

Clare Laidlaw, director of Distinctive Chesterfields, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be working with the Make a Wish Foundation and we’re aiming to make as much as possible for the charity when our signed sofa goes on sale next week.

“This is a really important cause, so we’re urging everyone in Huddersfield and beyond to spread the word about the auction and maybe even place a bid!”
