A MARATHON man from Huddersfield is guaranteed the sweet smell of success - after being sponsored by a honey firm.

Mark Painter, 34 (left), from Cowersley will be running the London Marathon next month with backing from Rowse Honey, of Oxfordshire - a product which he enjoys.

Mark, who works for the Halifax bank in Halifax, will be covering the 26 miles on Sunday, April 17, in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Trust.

He said: "My sister, Kathryn, died from the condition a couple of years ago, so it's very close to my heart."

Mark said he completed the marathon for the first time last year.

He added: "I'm hoping to improve on last year's time of five hours and 50 minutes.

"I broke two bones in my foot a fortnight before the big day, so that slowed me down a bit.

"This year I'm hoping to finish in about four-and-a- half hours."

The mortgage underwriter said he hoped people would sponsor him.

He added: "I managed to raise £2,659 last year and I hope to at least equal that."

People who would like to sponsor Mark can log on to the website www.justgiving. com/mark4mstrust2005 or call into the Halifax bank's branch in Cloth Hall Street, Huddersfield, and tell a member of staff you would like to give something to the Mark Painter Appeal account.
