KIRKWOOD Hospice is appealing for volunteer collectors to take part in its annual flag day tomorrow.

The hospice holds the collection in Huddersfield town centre every year.

But this year, the number of volunteers has dropped drastically.

Kate Leadbeater, the hospice's fundraising co-ordinator, said: "People have been ill and we are desperate for people to help out.

"Even if it's just for an hour it would be greatly appreciated."

The collection will be from 9am to 4pm.

All the money collected will go towards the £2.2m that the Dalton-based hospice needs to raise each year to stay open.

Anyone who wants to help at the collection should phone Ms Leadbeater on 01484 557911.
