SHOPPERS and staff from Co-op stores across the county have been thanked by the Association of Children's Hospices for giving £1m to the charity.
Money was raised in a five-month campaign by Co-operative group staff.
Graham Ross, Co-op regional chief officer, said: "All the money raised locally is being spent locally so Co-op staff and shoppers in Yorkshire can be sure that their contributions have gone to their nearest hospice and are greatly benefiting their community."
Barbara Gelb, chief executive of the Association of Children's Hospices, said: "To raise the landmark sum of £1m for children's hospices throughout the UK is a great tribute to the staff of the Co-operative Group.
"They have worked so tirelessly to help make the initiative such a fantastic success."
