Hospitals protestors will lobby Calderdale councillors later today.

Band Together For Our NHS will join Calderdale Trades Council, Calderdale 38 Degrees and members of the public at Halifax Town Hall at 5.30pm.

They will call on Calderdale Council’s Adult Health and Scrutiny Panel to hold a formal inquiry into the hospital trust’s Strategic Outline Case proposals for shaking up NHS and social care.

Thousands of Calderdale and Huddersfield residents have protested against the planned cuts in A&E and other services that were announced in February.

Calderdale Council voted unanimously to tell the five Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS organisations to withdraw their Strategic Outline Case proposals however this request was refused.

It was revealed in the Examiner last week that a leaked report contained plans £13.45 million worth of cuts by March and a further £20 million the following year and a further £19 million by 2016.
