A NEW gynaecologist and obstetrician has been appointed by Huddersfield’s hospital trust.

Dr Yi-Ling Chan will be seeing patients across Huddersfield and Halifax.

She specialises in urogynaecology and has expertise in investigating and treating women’s bladder and prolapse problems.

Her recruitment comes as part of a plan by Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust to further improve children’s and women’s services.

It brings the number of consultant obstetricians and gynaecologists to 11. Another will be appointed next month.

Dr Chan qualified as a doctor in Malaysia in 1996 and worked in Kuala Lumpur before coming to the United Kingdom in 2002.

She worked at hospitals in Nottingham, Derby and Harrogate before taking up the post.

She said: “The Trust is a very friendly place to work and there is a great team culture across the professions.”

Consultant Martin De Bono, head of children’s and women’s services, said: “We are delighted to have recruited new, high-calibre consultants to our team.

“The Trust is now a leading edge provider of children’s and women’s services and offers a wide range of choices to women in Calderdale and Huddersfield.”
