A PUB is the subject of a new planning bid which could one day see it transformed into community housing.

The disused Crosland at Walpole Road, Crosland Moor, is currently subject to a period of public consultation ahead of a decision by planners.

Agent on behalf of the application John Blackburn, of JRB Designs Ltd said: “The owner is looking to recoup some of the money spent on the purchase of the pub.

“It was bought as a going concern a few years ago but it has been closed for some time.

“It’s only a proposal for outline planning permission for the creation of apartments.

“We are looking at approaching a housing association with the focus very much on affordable accommodation.”

The public consultation will end on January 18 and a date for a decision has not yet been set.

The pub was known as The Walpole for many years.
