A NEW sheltered housing complex has been officially opened in Huddersfield.

Lord Peter Archer of Sandwell officially opened Bradley Court at Keldregate, Bradley.

He is the president of the Methodist Homes Housing Association which has set up complex with the help of the Kirklees Black Elders' Association and Kirklees Council.

The complex offers 46 one and two-bedroom flats with kitchens, living areas and bathrooms.

A restaurant enables people to enjoy a lunch together and there are communal laundries, bathrooms, a hairdresser and a chiropodist.

Sharon A'wood-Tayler, event and conference manager for the MHA group said: "The extra medical care is extremely important for residents.

"The hairdresser is experienced in African Caribbean hair and the restaurant will include African Caribbean food.

"Activities such armchair aerobics, cheese and wine evenings and card games will be organised, as well as excursions out."
