TENANTS have given a housing association a big thumbs-up.

More than 90% of tenants of the Huddersfield-based West Yorkshire Housing Association like their homes, find staff helpful and feel they are kept well informed.

More than two-thirds of the association's 600 tenants replied to an independent survey conducted by the National Housing Federation.

Approval for the overall service came from 88% of those polled, as against 79% in the last survey.

The survey showed that just 4% of those answering said they were dissatisfied with how repairs and maintenance were handled.

Christine Fox, the association's director of housing services, said: "We are very pleased with the results, particularly since they show that satisfaction has improved across all service areas since the last survey three years ago.

"This is a real pat on the back for our hard- working and committed staff, our voluntary board members and, of course, the tenants."
