IT was Hovercraft Day at Royds Hall High School.

Forty Year 8 pupils welcomed engineers from Bradford University in a challenge to design, make and race a hovercraft in one day.

The teams carved shapes from foam and then attached leaf blowers to provide the power.

The winning team gained points for speed and their individual design. The team were called ‘The Undertakers’ and designed their hovercraft in the shape of a coffin, complete with gravestone back rest.
