A MAN found dead in a garden at Birkby had died from natural causes.
The body of the 42-year-old was found outside his home on Macaulay Road at 8.15am yesterday.
Police taped off the area and launched an investigation into the cause of the man's death.
He had suffered a superficial face injury.
But a post-mortem yesterday afternoon revealed he had died from natural causes and had banged his face on a step as he collapsed.
The man has not yet been named as all his relatives have not been told about his death.
Det Insp Sam Cooke, of Huddersfield CID, said: "I would like to apologise to the people who live on Macaulay Road for the inconvenience caused by yesterday's investigation and thank them for their patience and understanding.
"Any death in these circumstances has to be treated as suspicious until we can prove otherwise. That was why we needed to tape off the street, to preserve the scene.
"We did confirm that the man died from natural causes and there will now be no need to hold an inquest," he added.
