THE Community Chest involves 10 deserving groups bidding for a slice of a whopping £15,000 bonanza.

This year the chest is bigger than ever, offering almost £5,000 more than last year.

It has been sponsored by Barclays Bank, which has a main branch in Huddersfield town centre and other branches in Milnsbridge, Fartown, Holmfirth and Skelmanthorpe.

All 10 organisations are now being profiled in the Examiner and then the real business of voting slip collecting starts. The organisations amassing the most votes will win the cash.

Organisations short-listed can enlist family and friends to collect voting slips.

The public will be asked to vote on which causes they think are most deserving by collecting the slips and taking them to their nearest Barclays branch, participating newsagents, the Examiner office at Queen Street South near Huddersfield town centre or posting them to our office.

More than 60,000 tokens were sent in last year and the overall winner was the Friends Of Beaumont Park.
