HUDDERSFIELD Art Society welcomed Newark-based wildlife artist Vic Bearcroft for a demonstration of animal portraits in pastel at Gledholt Methodist Church.

Working from his own photograph of ‘Tiny the Lion’ taken at the Wildlife Heritage Foundation in Kent, Vic explained his techniques and materials whilst showing his wide knowledge of cats and their ways.

Working on velour paper the painting was built up in several stages.

He is also closely associated with the Society of All Artists.

Huddersfield Art Society was delighted to be given the painting to raffle at a future meeting.

Society member Jill Moynan offered a vote of thanks. Matthew Evans presided.

The next meeting is an open exhibition and social day to be held at the chapel on May 21 between 10am and 4.30pm.
