YORKSHIRE artist John Freeman was a guest of Huddersfield Art Society.

He is based in Whitby and has developed a distinctive style of nocturnal studies of his local area and coast.

Working from photographic reference he produced an atmospheric nocturnal scene of a stone house in Scarborough at the meeting in Gledholt.

He was thanked by president Matthew Evans.

Society members John Elliott and Ralph Baker also presented their work for members to discuss.

At the Annual General Meeting members reflected on a successful year and discussed ideas for the new season.

Matthew Evans was re-elected as president and existing council officers were re-elected alongside four new members.
