UNSIGNED bands are wanted to take part in a music contest for a children’s charity.

West Yorkshire children’s hospice Martin House, near Wetherby, is inviting bands to enter its Centre Stage competition.

Entrants are asked to hold gigs and raise £1,000 for the charity.

In return they will get to play in heats at Leeds venue The Wardrobe.

The ultimate winner will get a slot on the BBC Introducing Stage at Leeds and Reading Festivals next summer, along with the chance to shoot their own video.

Band members must be from West Yorkshire and be no older than 21 on the day of the final.

At least one member should be at school or college. Heats are from April 16 to 19 at The Wardrobe, Leeds. The final is at the O2 Academy on July 17. Enter online at www.martinhouse.org.uk or email ssmith@martinhouse.org.uk/01937 844569 for details.
