A HUDDERSFIELD car dealer is on the move.
Sandal Motors won permission yesterday to relocate from Wakefield Road to Leeds Road.
Council planners gave the green light for a new showroom and dealership on the corner of Leeds Road and Thistle Street.
The 12,776sq m site currently includes the Market Tavern pub and the disused Graham’s Kitchens and Bathrooms site.
The four-storey building was badly damaged by fire last February.
Kirklees Council’s Huddersfield Planning Sub-committee yesterday voted unanimously to allow the new dealership to be built.
The showroom will include display space for 15 BMWs and seven Minis.
There will also be a 20-bay workshop, seven valetting spaces and 360sq m for parts storage.
A Kirklees officer told the sub-committee that Sandal would planned to move from its current site at Wakefield Road in Moldgreen.
