A MAN has been banned from driving after he admitted being over the limit at the wheel.

Anthony Richardson, of Library Close, Lepton, was stopped by police on Woodhead Road near Holmfirth at 2.15am on July 18.

His roadside breath test was 41mg of alcohol per 100mg – 6mg more than the legal maximum.

He was arrested and also charged with driving without the correct licence or insurance.

Richardson’s solicitor, Marnat Ali, told Huddersfield magistrates that he had been out drinking and had walked home from the pub and then had something to eat.

Mr Ali said his client, an unemployed builder, had waited one hour before driving and thought he would be under the limit. Richardson, who had a clean driving licence, was disqualified from driving for 12 months. He was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and the £15 victim surcharge.

Magistrates told him he could receive a 91-day reduction on his ban if he completed a drink-driver rehabilitation course.

The allegations of driving without the correct licence or insurance were dropped.
