A WOMEN’S cancer support group has just celebrated 10 years of success.

The Daylight group was founded for women in Huddersfield and Halifax who suffer from gynaecological cancers. Sessions are held every second Thursday of the month at the George Hotel in Huddersfield.

It was originally started by the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust and women are given the opportunity to talk to other women going through similar experiences. It has been such a success the Yorkshire Cancer network has started up similar groups across the region.

Specialist nurse Pat Marsden founded the group and members presented her with a surprise commemorative award.

She said: “The group is going from strength to strength and offers friendship and support in an informal setting.

“New members are always welcome to join us. The George has been a marvellous supporter throughout 10 years – helping us with a venue and with our fundraising efforts.”
