CARE home staff have raised more than £600 for a children’s charity.

More than 70 people visited Ashleigh Care Home in Newsome for a fun day in aid of Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

Manager Sam Wallace said: “We were meant to have a barbecue but the weather decided that everything should go indoors. It didn’t dampen our spirits though.”

A tombola, raffle and cake sale helped to raise more than £500 for the hospice.

Sam has also raised more than £500 for the charity in the run-up to the Leeds 10K in July. To sponsor him visit www.justgiving.com/Samuel-Mcphail.
