A FORGETFUL thief left a haul of foreign coins behind when he stole cash from a Kirkheaton house.

Huddersfield police said the man had talked his way into the house at Larch Close between 5.30pm and 6pm on Wednesday.

He took £30 in cash, but then left behind a black, vinyl men’s shaving bag containing numerous foreign coins.

Det Con Julian Burgin, of Huddersfield CID, said it was believed the man had stolen the coins in an earlier crime, but that the owner may not be aware they had gone.

“The bag was full of foreign coins, weighing about 2lbs or the same as a bag of sugar,” he said.

“The man used a level of deception to get into the house at Kirkheaton.”

The suspect, who spoke with a local accent, is described as white, aged about 30, 6ft tall with spikey black hair. He wore a black bomber jacket and blue jeans.
