DOZENS of cultural groups look set to lose funding next year.

West Yorkshire Joint Services Committee will give £843,530 to 32 organisations this year.

The grants include:

£37,900 to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park at West Bretton

£12,348 to the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival

£23,154 to the Kirklees Theatre Trust

£13,676 to Proper Job Theatre based in Byram Arcade.

Overall, groups in Kirklees will receive £157,656 from the committee this year.

But all the funding is due to be cut in 2012/13 because of the public spending squeeze.

The committee will decide on the issue at a meeting in Morley on Thursday.
