TWO Huddersfield cricketers have been jailed this afternoon for their part in a sham wedding scam.

Former Holmfirth player Javed Iqbal was given a 20-month sentence while Mohammed Taj, who was playing for Linthwaite, received 18 months. A third man involved in the scam, Salim Mullan, of Leicester, was jailed for 32 months.

The scam came to light when the UK Border Agency halted Iqbal's "wedding" at Huddersfield Register Office. It transpired he had paid £5,000 to marry a British woman.
