CYCLISTS battled the steep Holme and Colne Valley hills to raise vital cash.

Slaithwaite man Dominik Sobanski, 31, organised a 124-mile bike ride from Holmfirth to Appleby in Cumbria and back.

The Huddersfield DJ wants to raise enough money to send his father Zenofy to Hungary for an alternative cancer treatment called Gerson Therapy.

Zenofy, 62, has non Hodgkins lymphoma but has decided against chemotherapy.

Dominik, who DJs under the name Domski and was one of the founders of the popular Afterparty nights, said the team of five riders had completed the challenge in two days, a day quicker than planned.

He said: “It was a killer start going through Holmfirth, Slaithwaite and up to Sowerby Bridge.

“It exhausted most of us but as we got into The Dales it started getting slightly easier.

“It was a great team effort.” The four other cyclists were Tom Burns, Marty Legg and Ruth and Richard Fones. They were supported by Dominik’s wife Vesna Danovic and Rob Dear.
