A FAITH leader has been recognised with a prestigious honour.

Kiran Bali MBE was honoured with the Social Entrepreneur of the Year prize.

The Asian Diaspora Achievers’ Awards honour individuals from Asian backgrounds for their contributions to economic, social and cultural development across the Asian community in the UK.

The event was held in Manchester and was hosted by BBC journalist Talat Awan.

Kiran has volunteered for a number of causes as well as being a leading representative of the Hindu community in Huddersfield and the rest of the UK.

She was awarded an MBE in 2008 for her services to community relations.

She has just been appointed chief executive officer of United Religions Initiative UK.
