A FUNDRAISER by Huddersfield firefighters has raised hundreds of pounds for local charities.

Each year the town’s fire station open day attracts hundreds of visitors, who view spectacular fire safety and rescue displays.

Proceeds are split between a local charity and the Firefighters Charity.

Firefighters are pictured presenting £400 to diabetes specialist nurses Sarah Schorah and Maria Whiteley on behalf of HRI Children’s Diabetes Fund.

They also presented £400 to Gina Fielding of the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust, which the previous year’s event supported.

This year’s open day – organised by West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue – will be held on Saturday July 4.
