The soccer player who collapsed with a heart attack in a game in Huddersfield is recovering well in hospital.

Doctors at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary are still treating Lee Orton, 30, who collapsed a week ago.

Lee was playing for Aimbry in the club’s opening match in the new Huddersfield District League season.

Luckily for him, a spectator at the match against Brook Motors was nurse Mark Martin.

He had gone to watch his sons play in the game and managed to massage Lee’s heart for more than 10 minutes before paramedics arrived.

Lee was given emergency shock treatment by paramedics using a defibrillator before being taken to the Infirmary.

Conway Shaw, Aimbry secretary, said: “Lee is doing well in hospital where he is having further treatment, but he is hopeful of being able to go home soon.”
