A GIANTS player’s wedding is back on the road thanks to a kind car company.
Plans for Luke Robinson and fiancee Laura Towler’s wedding hit a wall when the 26-year-old scrum half was called to represent England at the Four Nations in Melbourne, Australia.
The couple’s original plan to wed in Cyprus on October 25 broke down, leaving Laura to arrange a last-minute wedding.
But now the couple’s nuptials are back on track after Cartwright’s Cars offered the pair a vintage limousine and chauffeur for free.
The elegant car will ferry the happy couple from their Sowerby Bridge home to the Halifax church and to Brighouse for the reception.
Cartwright’s Cars director Dick Cartwright said: “Luke’s manager got in touch and said he needed to organise something at the last minute.
“Normally brides give us 12 months notice but this time we had just over a month.
“But naturally we’re delighted to help out and it’s not much trouble because it’s what we do.
“We do weddings of the year and top end stuff but it’s nice to have a well known sportsman.”
The Kirkheaton-based company has a range of vintage and flashy motors but one vehicle stood out when Laura visited the showroom yesterday.
Laura, 27, said: “There was a car that had claret and gold ribbons on it. I thought that was a good omen.
“But we’re wearing Cadbury’s purple and they won’t go with our clothes so we’ll have to take the ribbons off!
“I was very worried about everything in general. I hadn’t even thought about transport.
“Dick was a nice man and very obliging and he’s offered us a great car. It’s a bit of a relief. Now I know I’m going to be arriving there like a princess.
“I’m still looking at sorting out the photographer and flowers but we’re on the home straight and it’s downhill from here.’’
