RUGBY stars turned pop stars for a night to back a local charity.

Huddersfield Giants players Eorl Crabtree, Leroy Cudjoe and Andy Raleigh joined the Colne Valley Ladies Circle to record a charity single for the Laura Crane Trust.

The Huddersfield based charity is the only UK charity dedicated to funding research specifically into cancers affecting 13 to 24-year-olds.

The group gathered at the Soundwaves studio at the Hudawi Centre to lay down their version of Keep On Moving by 90s boy band hearthrobs Five.

Kate Singleton, Chairman of Colne Valley Ladies Circle, said everyone had enjoyed their recording debut.

She said: “Our charity this year is the Laura Crane Trust and I just came up with the idea of recording a single.

“I knew the Giants supported the Laura Crane Trust too so I asked them if they’d do it with us and they said ‘yes’.

“We decided on that song because it’s upbeat and fun but if you actually listen to the words it’s very meaningful to what these young adults are going through.

“Everybody was a bit nervous, we have a few good singers who were confident but a few who have never done it before and were really scared.

“But we’ve had an absolute blast and we think it actually sounds really good.”

CDs will be £4 and thanks to backing from Giants’ sponsors Caboodle, who donated the discs and cases, 100% of the revenue from sales will be going to the charity.
