A MENTAL health awareness evening will be hosted by Huddersfield Giants tomorrow.

The club is continuing its support to the Rugby League Cares appeal which aims to encourage people to be active as a way to cope with the ups and downs of everyday life.

Huddersfield Giants development manager and former player Robbie Hunter-Paul will kick off the informal evening tomorrow when he talks about his experiences dealing with the stresses of playing top class rugby.

The talk will be followed by some fun, informal activity sessions.

Dr Judith Hooper, Director of Public Health for NHS Kirklees and Kirklees Council said: “Everyone feels down from time to time and there is much we can do to strengthen our mental wellbeing. This campaign will improve understanding of how we can stay resilient, as well as know more about the early signs of managing stress and depression.”

Those attending are also invited to try out the weekly Touch Rugby session after the meeting. Those wishing to join this session need to wear trainers and sports kit.
