HUDDERSFIELD’S only lap dancing club is moving into the town centre.

Cleopatra’s Lounge is this week relocating to the basement of the Casino Red club at Northumberland Street.

It’s the remaining lap dancing club in the town after two others closed in recent years.

And owner Jason Armitage says people unsure about lap dancing are welcome to go along and find out more.

Jason said: “There’s always been a demand. We’ve done well and that’s because we’ve a good set of girls.

“We get a real mix of people coming along, lap dancing is more acceptable and we’ve got Christmas parties and the usual stag parties.

“But we also get a lot of women coming in, quite a few couples too because they’re interested in seeing what it’s all about.”

Some people may oppose such a club, but Jason added: “Come down and take a look and see what it’s all about.

“Lap dancing is mainstream nowadays.”

The club has 30 girls on its books with 15 working on a given night.

Jason said Christmas was a busy time of year for the club, which re-opens today.

Cleopatra’s Lounge was previously located at Folly Hall but they’ve gone into partnership with the Casino Red team which occupies the main building above.

They’ll be sharing the building which has had a £5 million restoration in recent years.

“We’ll be based in the basement of the Grade II listed building and it’s a beautiful building with a bit of history too,” Jason added. “It was the Princess Restaurant so it’s a place a lot of people will know about.”

Jason has previously worked at lap dancing clubs in Leeds, but set up this new venture two years ago.

“There’s a good crowd over here and it’s been going well.

“It’s a busy time and we’re looking forward to it opening.”

Previous clubs in Huddersfield, Wildcats and La Salsa, based at Kirkgate and the Beast Market, have both closed in the last two years.
